To Tobias Menzies:
I am a US citizen. The first time I saw you work was on The Crown, playing Prince Phillip. I don’t know whether Phillip acts and speaks the way you portrayed him, but he should. You make him a very interesting character. The second time I saw you work was in Outlander, playing the dual roles of Frank/Jack Randall. When my wife and I first saw you, we said “Hey look, it’s Prince Phillip!” We completed watching the last season of Outlander, and have just completed the last season of The Crown. We now refer to you as Frank.
Hollywood is full of British and Australian actors, and we Americans have become accustomed to them. I appreciate British humor to a large degree, and also believe the accent lends itself to historical roles.
I don’t think most people appreciate the talent of the better actors, and the ability they have to jump from one role to another, with no similarity, and pull them both off with realism. You, Sir, are one of those actors. The single most important part of acting is to make your audience believe you. You do that. You “are” Phillip, you “are” the kind and gentle Frank, and you “are” the Jack the bastard.
Thank you for entertaining us. You are truly a great actor.
